Carter Combs
Carter Combs has his first memory of performing at five years old, singing a cappella with his five brothers at a church potluck dinner. Growing up in Independence, Mo., and through his college years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he participated in school choirs, show ensembles, musicals and barbershop quarteting.
After college, a career opportunity moved Carter to Pensacola, Fla. It was there that he joined the Barbershop Harmony Society, singing with, and eventually directing, the Pensacola Fiesta Chorus. He also sang in the Choral Society, performed in dozens of musicals and even a couple of operas. Over Carter’s nearly 40 years of barbershopping, he has been an avid quartet man, having sung tenor in more than a dozen registered foursomes.
Carter thanks his lovely wife, Jeffi, for tolerating his barbershop mania!
